How to Care for Eucalyptus Wood Outdoor Furniture
Outdoor furniture usually acquires more dirt than indoor furniture for the obvious reason that they are outside and are exposed to more dirt and dust. Moreover, their life span is not so long because they have to weather harsh natural elements—sun light and heat, rain, wind, snow, and so on.
Many pieces of outdoor furniture are made of eucalyptus wood. If you have a set of eucalyptus wood outdoor furniture at home in your garden or outdoors, here are some tips on how to properly take care of them.
• Before using a damp cloth or soap and water to clean your eucalyptus wood furniture, you should remove first the dust or dirt that can be removed by using clean, dry cloth, a duster, or a brush. By doing so, the dirt will not mix with the water or will not soil the damp cloth which could only create more dirt.
• You can use water hose or a pail of water to rinse off any remaining hardened or caked dirt. Do not be worried about giving it a shower. Outdoor furniture can withstand rain—a sprinkle of water from your hose will be no problem.
• After rinsing with water, use soap to wash it. Do not use detergent soap because this might affect the color of your furniture. Use a dishwashing soap or even a mild bath soap to preserve the color of your outdoor furniture as much as you can.
• There is a big possibility that mold will grow on your outdoor furniture after being alternately exposed to heat and wetness. What you can use to clean off mold from your furniture is diluted bleach. Remember, it should be diluted. Concentrated bleach will make the color of your furniture fade. Dilute the bleach and test it first to a concealed part of the furniture before applying it to the mold infected area.
Do all of this advice will make your Eucalyptus wood outdoor furniture last much more longer.
